Located in the City of Ryde, Eastwood is a place full of people from different backgrounds, especially Chinese and Korean immigrants. Recently, a grand annual celebration was held there, and Australian business guests, local residents and ethnic community representatives were invited to attend this celebration.
The morning tea event started at 9 a.m. in Eastwood Hotel. Attendees included important Australian government officials, business entrepreneurs and local community representatives. Around mid day, an official celebration was held at Eastwood Plaza. There were many important guests such as member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly Victor DOMINELLO, China to Sydney vice consul TANG Ying, federal member John ALEXANDER, and Homart Pharmaceuticals Managing Director Ms. Lynn YEH, amongst others.
This activity is the major annual celebration of the city of Ryde and Eastwood, and it not only effectively promotes community harmony, but also provides an opportunity for ethnic communities to actively communicate with each other. Ms TANG made a speech congratulating China and Australia for the huge success achieved in the past year, especially in economic, trade and cultural relations. China is now the largest trading partner of NSW and a huge number of Chinese travelers and overseas students visit NSW every year. At the end of the speech, Ms TANG wished everyone a prosperous, health and happy new year.
After Ms TANG’s speech, the City of Ryde organised various types of traditional art performances and lion dances.
